We didn't intend to buy this mare but we just couldn't look past her in the yard! She is a show mare and has everything you would want in a top show hunter hack! MISS MASTERLUKE has just attended a 3 day ASH Ladies Clinic which was her first outing and once settled, she worked beautifully. She is sharp and is a class act, as you would expect with her breeding. She has heritage ASH bloodlines through her sire & dam. Interestingly she features JUROR in her breeding which can also be found in our YARRANOO MUSIC grand daughters. These mares, MUSIC MELODY and COLOURFUL MUSIC are all very similar in type and frame. As broodmares they provide breeding opportunity without the risk of inbreeding. Mares of this quality are hard to find. We have had several offers of late on this mare but at this stage we are excited about her foals and bringing her back in under saddle to compete as an older mare.

GRADYS MISS MASTERLUKE was bred by the Fahey family of Taree, NSW. To them,this mare is known as VALENTINE STUD IMPULSE. A daughter of VALENTINE STUD MASTER LUKE, VALENTINE STUD IMPULSE, is from MERRAID, a quality ASB bred mare whom had a promising jumping career cut short due to injury. Interestingly, MERRAID features the imported stallion COURT MARTIAL, an impressive chestnut stallion who won several notable races in England prior to him leaving for Australia in 1942. COURT MARTIAL also features in the breeding of MUSIC MELODY and COLOURFUL MUSIC through Coloured Red. Looking back furthur we discover that COURT MARTIAL shares common breeding with the Australian Stock Horse Foundation Mare, GLENNA - 3543, whom we have based our bloodlines around for our future breeding program. The first common thread with this remarkable little mare is SON IN LAW (Leading sire in Great Britian in 1924 and 1930) and by the noted sire, DARK RONALD who was leading sire in Germany for several years. Dark Ronald also features again in the breeding of GLENNA but this time as the sire of another recognised ASH sire, PROMISED LAND. |
